Nhon Trach power plant No.2 officially began operation 
PetroVietnam Power Corporation on Saturday November 12th officially brought its Nhon Trach Power Plant No. 2 into operation in the southern province of Dong Nai.
Located in Ong Keo Industrial Park in Nhon Trach District, some 35 kilometres from HCM City, the gas-fuelled Nhon Trach Power plant No. 2 has a capacity of 750 MW. The power plant comprises two SGT5-4000F gas turbines, two heat-recovery steam generators, an SST5-5000 steam turbine, three SGen-1000A air-cooled generators, electrical equipment, and ancillary and auxiliary systems that can produce 4 billion kWh per year, worth VND4.5 trillion ($215 million). The plant will be fuelled by natural gas processed at the offshore Cuu Long and Nam Con Son oil and gas fields.
Playing the role of capital arranger of the project, PVFC has successfully arranged US$80 million and VND180 billion. Along with that, the Corporation also provided guarantee, credit services that worth approximately US$1.5 million, meeting the power plant’s need of working capital.
At the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai said the plant would contribute significantly to the country's energy security and to helping curb power shortages in the dry season.
